His father took the R&B charts by storm in the 1970’s with his classic smash hit “If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don’t Want To Be Right.” Now Luther Ingram’s son, Eric Luther Ingram continues his father’s legacy through music and an upcoming motion picture film titled after the 1972 #1 hit song. Being the son of a star became a normal vibe for Ingram. He grew up in Catholic school and played a variety of sports, attended Central State University in Ohio on a football scholarship and majored in business. He recalled hearing his first rap song when he was standing on the lawn at Ohio State. “When I was growing up, I listened to a lot of soul, R&B, and then there was the emergence of funk, so when I heard rap music, I was like wow, what is this,” said Ingram. Industry people knew Ingram because of his dad, and he started to really use it to his advantage by getting into shows and canvassing the music scene. It wasn’t until 1996 at a music conference in Nashville, TN when he met Sean “Puffy” Combs, he realized he wanted to be part of the industry. Aside from his filmmaking, Ingram is currently making a name for himself as a Published Author. His two books, “The Un-Watered Rose (A Khmer Woman’s Journey To Freedom)” which has a WGA written script attached to it and his latest, “The BreakThrough”, where he is featured alongside world renowned authors Les Brown, Johnny Wimbrey and Nik Halik, are both on the market. “The UnWatered Rose” shows Ingram’s true due-diligence in which he travels deep into the villages of Cambodia to conduct research on what it was like to live there in the late 70’s during the Khmer Rouge. In ”The Breakthrough '' Ingram discusses a near death tragedy he had to overcome as well as the drive he has to continue his father’s legacy. Whether discovering new talent, producing, or writing, Eric Luther Ingram is on his way to becoming one of newest and freshest faces in the industry.
